\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Park of Remembrance was created by the municipality of Montone in 1926, to accommodate the monument in memory of the Montone soldiers who died in the First World War. It is located in the centre of the garden and the bronze sculpture that adorns the top of the memorial stone was commissioned by the community. It is by the Perugian sculptor, Angelo Biscarini, who was also entrusted with the creation of the terracotta works in memory of Giuseppe Polidori, a Garibaldi soldier of the Thousand, located on the Porta del Borgo and in the monumental cemetery. The statue depicts the figure of a naked soldier with a torch, sword and flag, towering over the defeated enemy. It was inaugurated on 12 June 1927. The plaques with the names of the fallen were added after the Second World War, and also feature the names of those who died in that war. When the retreating Germans occupied Montone in 1944, there were fears that the monument would be vandalised or destroyed as had already happened in Passignano sul Trasimeno.
