One of the most authentic and evocative autumn events in Umbria, the Festa Del Bosco promotes small local producers, and products that come from the woods and undergrowth. Umbria’s most atmospheric market and products exhibition immerses the visitor in the scents and flavours of autumn; there are tastings, events and the chance to browse in shops throughout the narrow streets of Montone.
For 40 years now, Montone, a village nestled between the hills and woods of the Carpina Valley and the Tiber Valley, has been celebrating the fruits of the forest, chestnuts, mushrooms, truffles and other products. The Festa Del Bosco has consistently provided the opportunity to showcase artisans who create rare and unique handmade products, such as embroidery, beautiful items made of wrought iron and inlaid wood, and artistic ceramics; it offers a veritable treasure trove of small local companies and producers.
During the event, as well as the market and exhibition, and in addition to tastings of woodland produce, there are guided tours, walks and horse rides in the woods along with photo and art exhibitions.
